This went under my radar but better late than never. Apparently, Yahoo! Philippines will be announcing the winners of its Yahoo! OMG! Philippines Awards tonight at Republiq Bar in Resorts World, Newport City in Pasay City. There are a total of 16 awards to be given based on the following categories:

Hottest Actress
Breakthrough Male Artist
Breakthrough Female Artist
Funniest Comedian
Funniest Comedienne
Awesome Young Actor
Awesome Young Actress
Amazing Male Newcomer
Amazing Female Newcomer
Favorite Male TV Host
Favorite Female TV Host
Coolest Male Singer
Coolest Female Singer
Coolest Band
Fashion Designer of the Year
According to Yahoo! OMG Philippines, “Nominees for each category were chosen using search trends on Yahoo! wherein the most searched celebrities have been listed—that is, Yahoo! users have sought to know more about these celebrities on the site. The top four names known to fall under specific categories are presented as nominees.”
Winners for the categories listed above will be determined via the results of the online poll they conducted from June 14 to 18, 2011. Aside from the categories above, they will also have two categories based purely on search—OMG! Celebrity of the Year and OMG! Major Impact awards. The OMG! Celebrity of the Year award will be given to the celebrity who topped the Yahoo! Celebrity Search list from January – May of this year while the OMG! Major Impact award will be given to a non-showbiz personality who topped the Yahoo! Search trend in the same period.
